What is covered

Tidy Wilds and this website were made for Tidy Wilds and are owned by Steven Shackleton. This includes:

  • the game's software and source code;
  • the artwork: rubbish pieces, boards, scenes, maps, trees, wildlife, icons and interface art;
  • the characters, including Nutmeg the squirrel;
  • the music and sound effects;
  • the levels, game text and nature facts, and the text and design of this website.

The game's art and sound effects were produced in-house by the project's own rendering and sound-synthesis code. The music was composed for Tidy Wilds by Steven Shackleton and performed with public-domain sampled instruments (see below). No stock art or third-party music is used.

How copyright works in the UK

In the United Kingdom, copyright arises automatically when an original work is created. There is no official register and nothing needs to be filed. This notice does not create copyright; it tells you that the work is protected and who owns it.

You may not copy, redistribute, sell or adapt any part of Tidy Wilds or this website without written permission, except as the law allows (for example fair dealing for criticism, review or reporting current events) or as described under Screenshots, videos and streaming. You are welcome to share links to this site.

Screenshots, videos and streaming

You are welcome to take screenshots of Tidy Wilds, record videos of yourself playing it and stream it, and to share them online, including on channels that earn money from ads, memberships or tips. In return, please:

  • show the game being played, with your own gameplay or commentary, rather than re-uploading our trailers, music or art on their own;
  • don't sell the game's art, music or characters, or use them in other products, apps or games;
  • don't suggest that we sponsor or endorse you or your channel unless we have agreed it in writing;
  • follow the rules of the site you post on, and don't use the game in content that is hateful, misleading or unsuitable for the children who play it;
  • if you can, name the game in your description.

This permission is personal to you, can't be transferred and covers only the uses above. We may ask you to take down a video or post that doesn't follow these points. If you are under 18, check with a parent or carer before posting anything online. Sharing is never needed to play.

The game and this website use two typefaces, both licensed under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1 and used unmodified:

Sampled instruments in the music

The music was composed for Tidy Wilds by Steven Shackleton and performed with sampled instruments from two public-domain libraries. Neither licence sets any conditions, and both allow commercial use. We credit them with thanks:

Nature recordings in the music

Open-source software in the game

The game is built with Flutter and open-source packages (under licences such as BSD, MIT and Apache 2.0), and uses Material Icons. Their licence notices, and the font and sample-library notices above, are shown in the game under Settings > Licences.

Advertising, purchases, cloud save and achievements use Apple's, Google's and Unity's software development kits under their own terms.
